The Blue Phoenix? I know most in my village will call it the Blue Bird... not knowing of the pheonix.
I am Working on a device for myself and Inn. What do you think?

Tuesday, June 20, 2006

A new group of 11 holy pilgrims arrived yesterday. It was a very long and busy day at the Inn. Some news of note: a fellow Innkeeper's wife (she is truly the one running the Inn) seems to have gone mad in child birth. The midwife thinks she will recover her wit's soon, and the entire village prays it will come to pass. I must be off. I have needy (wealthy) guest to attend to this morning.

In celebration of the forthcoming appointment of m'lady Isabella to the post of Deputy Herald of the shire of Flint March... a POST!

I am honored and pleased to announce that I have accepted the position of Deputy Herald to Flint Marsh and as soon as my move is complete I cannot wait to began research.

My duties (even with the Inn being slow) have kept me tied to work. If I am not working at the Inn, then I am sleeping or if I am not traveling for the Inn then I am working in the Inn. It seems to be an endless (often thankless) existence. The one thing I have longed to accomplish (joining the SCA) has yet to happen. I must remember to take some time for myself.

A new pattern for m'lady Isabella. In her colours and using her device.

humbly presented for m'lady's consideration.
Just look! Not a pilgrim insight. Well no one insight at all. Such is live in the slow lane.

M'lady Isabella, a new tournament arena will be opening soon in shire next to Owl's Nest. It is a little mundane to joust in doors, but all in good sport and if you will join me on your next trip to our fair shire, good company.

M'lady Isabella has called me out...

For an untruth I had told. While I toyed with m'lady's hospitality, my true desire was to stay in, have some ale, eat some good food, and relax at my humble Inn.

I beg m'lady's forgiveness.

Very Slow and Hot at my Ole Inn. Anyone need lodging?

A nice pattern in m'lady's colours and of her device.
Honor be to Isabella Ambrogini Poliaiana!

M'lady has a strong backhand!

I have been remist in my duties to m'lady Isabella. So I do her honor by wearing her colours this day. Honor be to m'lady Isabella Ambrogini Poliaiana!
M'lady Isabella it would seem that I too am being plagued by a reptile in the lawn. I fear I may have to take my own advise and seek some kind of snake repellent. While I traveled north last week one of the other Inn Keeps of our fair village was giving false witness of my person and establishment. It was a most troubling situation in which I have had to call him out in public and the out come could go against me for he has the ear of powerful merchants and leaders in the village... Speaking the truth may not be enough.

Perhaps M'lady has noticed that all these strange crop defacing occur near trees. It is well known that squirrels live in such trees and many now believe these strange events are in fact the work of Joe Joe.
M'lady, I am well acquainted with the Director of the Pagan Atlanta Organization. If you require a strong snake repellant I am quite sure that 40,000 pagan (well 39,999... they are unsure of the one who worships Joe Joe the alien squirrel) can come up with a strong enough spell or something of that nature.

Do you think he is injured Isabella?

One too many hits to the head may cause altered states of perception.

The way the world looks when you dodge a little too late.

I do not think that was a truffle.

Company of a lovely tavern wench, 10 coins.
Drinking (all of) the finest ale in town, 50 coins.
Awakening the next (mid) day in the park devoid of both clothing and brains with friends taking pictures...Priceless

Now with the Fair in the Barony of Southdowns finished for the year we are left with only our memories. The busy main village Fair gate closed again. Here are some of my memories...

M'lady Nat and myself wait for everyone to arrive. We were all so excited to see what wonders the fair would show us...

We are greeted by two fanciful Fairy Maidens...only one in photo...

On a second day... we all dressed down for it was most hot. M'lady Isabella wore her archery clothes. All of us dressed simply to avoid the great heat of the day.

And this was a simple Inn Keep trying to make sense of the Inn bill for all of us... It was hopeless, until m'lady Isabella worked it all out. Well, until next year!
